SUBJECT: MINUTES OF MEETING OF DEANS OF FACULTIES AND CHAIRMEN DEPARTMENTS WITH VICE CHANCELLOR TO DISCUSS STATUS OF SELF ASSESSMENT PRACTICES/IMPLEMENTATION PLAN HELD ON 14-12-2011.

The subject matter meeting was held on 14-12-2011 at 12.30 pm in committee room of Vice Chancellor Secretariat under the Chairmanship of Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. All the Deans of the Faculties and almost all the Chairmen of the departments attended the meeting.

The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. In the opening remarks Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam appreciated the efforts of QEC in achieving the “W” category and highlighted its role in upbringing the quality culture in university. Vice Chancellor further stressed that this is the era of Quality in education, which is an international phenomena. Thus through the adoption of Quality Assurance practices in the form of Self Assessment, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam trying its best to safeguard the interest of its students by fulfilling the needs of employers. Vice Chancellor added that self assessment is a tool to achieve mission and objectives set by the departments. Vice Chancellor instructed the departmental heads to cooperate with Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the university.

The progress of all the departments was discussed in detail one by one and all the participants took active part in discussion. Director, QEC advised all the departmental heads to check the status of their Program Teams (PT’s). If they are not complete the proposal for revision of PT’s may kindly be submitted to QEC for the approval of Vice Chancellor. After lengthy discussion following decisions were taken unanimously:

Decision-I: The departments of 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd phase were asked to complete their goals as identified by Assessment Team. However, PC-I may also be submitted in due course of time to achieve these goals.

Decision-II: The 4 th phase departments, which did not submitted initial draft of Self Assessment Report (SAR) were advised to submit SAR within a week’s time.

Decision-III: It was also decided that the 2 nd Self Assessment Cycle may be immediately started in following departments:

Institute of Food Science and Technology

Department of Soil Science

Department of Animal Products Technology.

Department of Entomology

Department of Farm Power and Machinery

Department of Veterinary Parasitology

Department of Statistics

Information Technology Centre

Department of Surgery and Obstetrics

Department of Plant Protection.

Decision-IV: All the departments where PT’s are not complete were asked to submit the proposal for revision of PT’s for approval of Vice Chancellor.
