The department focuses on teaching of breeding strategies for improvement of farm animal production, to enhance the availability of better quality milk, meat, mutton, and wool. The department undertakes research on breeding problems under local conditions and suggests the future strategies for genetic improvement of existing germ plasm to ensure greater production to meet the requirements for ever increasing human population as well as for export.
