ObjectivesThe Public Relations Section (PRS) has a pivotal role within the University in that it is the first port of call for contacts and visitors, and it is at the helm of portraying the activities undertaken by the Department to the outside world. It has established ties with other universities of the country and regularly hosts delegations from educational establishments, NGOs and the media. A major part of its work is the preparation of University publications and documentary films. Event management, such as the graduation ceremonies, conferences and cultural displays, forms a significant amount of the Department’s work.
The PR Section has the overall responsibility of providing a positive image for the University to the public. It also aims to preserve and maintain a respectable reputation for the University while providing information for prospective students, professors and the public in general.
Objectives: Acting as the conduit between the University and the public, the role of the Section can be summarized as follows: * Ensuring the favorable reputation for the University. * Enhancing students’ affiliation and pride in their University. * Engendering support and appreciation of the University amongst the public. * Organizing media coverage and publicity for events and activities. * Conveying to the University the public’s concerns, expectations and opinions, so that the University might take them into consideration. * Publicizing the University’s ongoing events, activities and facilities.
