Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have agreed to jointly observe World Food Day and strengthen cooperation in water management, climate-resilient agriculture, research and training. A FAO delegation led by Mr. Jiro Ariyama met SAU officials to discuss agricultural water management, weather monitoring, maintenance of the FAO-supported flux tower and capacity-building activities. The two sides also discussed impact-based forecasting training for 25 female students and faculty members, along with World Food Day awareness activities focused on food security, climate resilience and sustainable agriculture.

The AAK Scholarship Committee of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) approved a Master’s merit scholarship for an Agricultural Economics student and distributed four scholarships under the HYKAZ Aamanat Education Support Program. The meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, also reviewed scholarship initiatives and endowment fund development. The AAK scholarship will provide Rs. 12,000 per month for up to 24 months to Imamuddin, selected on merit from six candidates. Four HYKAZ scholarship cheques were distributed among Rashid Ali, Khalid Ali, Muhammad Waris and Sajjad Ali. Dr Siyal stressed transparent, merit-based scholarships and sustainable financial support for deserving students.

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), WPSA South Zone Pakistan and the private poultry sector have strengthened collaboration to promote research, student training and academia-industry linkages. At a ceremony held at SAU, A One Feeds Hyderabad provided laboratory equipment and chemicals to support poultry research and academic activities. Dr. Inayatullah Rajper, Dr. Syed Ghiasuddin Shah Rashidi, Dr. Shahid Waheed, Syed Waqar Alam and Umar Tariq stressed stronger cooperation between universities and industry to develop skilled graduates, promote innovation and support the sustainable growth of the poultry sector.

The HEC Task Force on ORICs and BICs and Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) have agreed to promote value-added agriculture, agro-industry, exports and student-led startups through stronger public-private partnerships. Former HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Javaid Laghari met Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal to discuss research commercialization, innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr Siyal stressed stronger university-industry linkages and plans to establish an Industry Advisory Board to align research with market needs. Prof. Laghari emphasized incubation, mentoring and financial support to help promising student ideas develop into sustainable startups.

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) and the Food Security and Agriculture Centre of Excellence (FACE) have agreed to collaborate on student-led commercial projects, women’s vermicomposting training and the Agriculture and Food Security Innovation Challenge (AFSIC-2026). FACE representative Muhammad Ahmed met Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal to discuss joint research, innovation and financial support for selected student projects. The collaboration will focus on climate-smart agriculture, food security, water management, mechanization and sustainable farming. Dr. Aasia Akber Panhwar said ORIC would coordinate future activities, while Dr Siyal emphasized university partnerships to turn research into practical and commercially viable solutions for agriculture.

The excavation of Moen-Jo-Daro talks about prosperity of Sindh for the production of agricultural commodities in earliest times. Sindh province of Pakistan was a net exporter of food supplies to the entire Sub-continent during the nineteenth century. Located in the extreme south of Pakistan as one of the four provinces, Sindh presents a variety of soil and climatic conditions compatible for growing various cereal, fruit and vegetable crops and maintenance of a large livestock population.
